| |
- Permission to reproduce materials for
publication from the collections of the New York
State Historical Association, The Farmers'
Museum, Inc., or the New York State Historical
Association Research Library, must be requested
by completion of the
Application for Permission
to Publish (PDF file, 8 kB). The application is to be forwarded
to the Registrar, New York State Historical
Association, Lake Road, P.O. Box 800,
Cooperstown, New York 13326.
- It is our policy to charge a
reproduction/publication fee for each commercial
use of each image of our collections. There is
no fee for use of citations about materials from
the collections. Non-commercial use of images is
subject to one-half commercial use fee.
- The New York State Historical Association (NYSHA)
and The Farmers' Museum, Inc., (TFM) own
reproduction rights to the materials in their
collections, except in certain instances.
Reproduction for publication purposes,
therefore, requires your securing permission
from NYSHA or TFM. Effective January 1, 1978,
both published and unpublished works are
protected by copyright.
- A credit line indicating the collection
involved and its source is required if material
is published or otherwise reproduced. Credit
line must be in immediate proximity to the image
or a section within the publication's
acknowledgements.
- Application procedure: The New York State
Historical Association grants only one-time
publication/reproduction rights, which cover the
United States and Canada, English language only.
This permission covers worldwide sales only.
Additional languages are by separate requests.
- Color transparencies are rented for a
three-month period. After this initial rental
time, if the transparency has not been returned,
there will be an additional monthly rental
charge. All transparencies are to be returned to
the Registrar. Full replacement cost of $100
will be charged in case of loss or damage.
- The New York State Historical Association
requires proof/tear sheet for color
reproduction. Also, we request a copy of the
publication upon completion, unless otherwise
stated.
- The rates for photographic services quoted on
the "Schedule(s) of Photographic Service
Charges" are for basic services and uses of NYSHA's photographs. The Association reserves
the right to review, case by case, all requests.
The rates may vary depending on the exact type
of use or service, the medium, and production
and distribution factors.
